Dear Reader,

Today, after two appointments with my wife and my newborn son, I had a late lunch at Snow Pony.

My wife always finds good spots to have a coffee and good food, and this place is surprisedly good. My usual strong cappuccino was good, they have a nice area and backyard for sunny days, and menu is quite interesting.

I ordered a wild mushrooms omelette, a bit spice, and I could handle (as I am not used to spice food at all). It is covered by crispy kale and multi-grain toasts as a side. At 2pm, the chef may not be very happy to cook, but the dish was great as my wife's main: a fritter. That was not too oily (as I explained to my wife, fritters are ok, they are just not very health because they are fried ;P), and it was tasty. We really enjoyed.

Well, who are used to see my reviews will understand that seven is a petty good rating.

Yuzu at Church Lane

Dear Reader,

After nine months of pregnancy, my wife can finally eat raw food, which means that we can have sashimi! And we went to Yuzu at Church Lane to celebrate the birthday of a friend, who booked a table under the name Channel (yes, that high-end brand). :/

The menu has a good variety of food and drinks, specially sake (and they drank so many bottles that nobody could count in the end). All plates are made to be shared: appetisers, sushi and sashimi platter, skewers, seafood, etc. 10 people could drink and eat comfortably, and we still had a matcha ice cream as dessert. By the way, it is a Japanese fusion cuisine. :) Place is hidden, at a tiny lane, close to the Oaks on Collins hotel; service is ok.

BOMBA

Dear Reader,

Moved to Melbourne, and why not keep posting reviews for restaurants and cafes here in Australia?

I will start with BOMBA, a tapas restaurant with a rooftop bar opposite to Marriott hotel.

Spanish cuisine, where the chefs can see the guests on the table, so if you want to interact with them, feel free, they are nice. A waitress took a picture for us, a bunch of Asians to celebrate a friend's birthday. Another waitress said rudely that we should sit to have the food served.

Food is average, sangria is average. You may find good wines, nothing spectacular though. The place is cosy, the idea and the proposition are nice, but the execution could be better. I prefer Portello Rosso for the value and quality, and I would go to Movida if you miss Spanish food (and you are not looking for a so fancy restaurant).

The rooftop has basically stand-up tables, and you can go after having dinner at the restaurant. Also, the bar's appearance is much better than the drinks' taste and menu. They have a decent service as well.

São Paulo Tokyo - Temaki & Sushi

Olá,

Procurando um restaurante japones mais tranquilo fora dos bairros mais procurados com restaurantes modernos, pode ir no São Paulo - Tokyo, na Vila Clementino. Duas unidades muito próximas uma da outra e bem tranquila, sem filas, atendimento bom.

Com muitas opçoes e boa qualidade, fique bem positivamente surpreso, mesmo sabendo que ja foi eleito melhor rodizio de japa de SP, fui desconfiado, mas realmente é muito bom. Quem gosta de camarão, nao tem miseria, alem da lula.

Tem os tepans (grelhados) e espetinhos (robata) tambem bons, alem do classico sushi e sashimi, e sem "muita" tropicalizaçao. O temaki tambem é bem feito. Vale a pena repetir e levar a familia ou amigos.

Sassá Sushi

Olá,

Este restaurante japa fica bem localizado, entre um espanhol e um portugues, o Sassá Sushi tem o esquema buffet com sashimi (regulado) a vontade trazido a mesa.

Bem movimentado, pois quando se quer comer um japa e nao quer gastar muito, para a regiao que é cara é uma boa saida.

Pratos quentes e os sushis sao bem variados, alguns muitos bons e ate bem feitos, se voce gostar de algum, corre o risco de nao conseguir repetir depois.

Sobremesa inclusiva no buffet.

Limonn Restaurante

Olá,

Estava curioso para conhecer o Limonn, tentei uma vez com amigos, mas estava muito deserto e é um lugar para ir de casal. Então fui em um jantar solo após academia.

Infelizmente não fizeram meu drink com Absolut conforme eu havia pedido.

Não havia muitos clientes, atendimento foi excelente. Sugestão do dia muito boa, mas fui no peixe. Se está com fome, peça entrada, senão não ficará satisfeito.

E de sobremesa, o garçon sugeriu a torta de limão que havia sido feita no dia. Realmente até aquele momento foi a melhor torta de limão que havia comido.
